Recycling

Place recyclables on your blue container for pick-up once a week or drop-off recyclables at the recycling center. 4101 N. Bentsen. Multi-family complexes are encouraged to bring recyclables to the center.

Work place Recycling is Free!

Public Works offers dumpsters and automated containers to businesses free of charge. Four (4) cubic yard mechanized side loader containers with built in slots for cardboard are placed at the commercial site that generate a lot of cardboard. Blue automated recycling containers are offered to buildings, schools, and private offices to recycle mixed office paper.

Cereal Boxes, Show Boxes, Television Boxes, Pizza Boxes, and Shipping Boxes
Paper
Newspaper, Catalogs, Magazines, Office Paper and Books.
Plastic
Soda Bottles (coded 1 & 2), Milk and Water Jugs, Detergent/Cleaning Bottles, Plastic Bottles & Jugs.
Aluminum Cans
Aluminum and Beverage/Soda Cans.
Tin Cans
Tin, Aerosol and Food Cans.
Glass
Glass Bottles, Glass Jars.

*What can not be recycled*

Cups
Waxed Beverage Cups, Styrofoam Cups, Cutlery and Paper Plates.
Containers
Pesticide containers, Oil containers, Paint Cans.
Glass Bulbs
Windshield Window Glass, Mirrors, Light Bulbs, Pottery, Ceramics
Toilet Paper
Toilet Paper, Paper Towels, Wipes, and Personal Hygiene.
Plastic Bags
Plastic shopping bags, grocery store bags and shipping bags.

Recycle these only at recycling center

Batteries
Only Vehicle and Lawnmower Tractor Batteries Are Accepted.
Computers
Computers, scanners, printers and monitors. We all need to work together to keep these products out of our landfills. There is no fee for bringing these products to the recycling center.
Cell Phones
Cell phones contain a numerous amount of hazardous substances, which can pollute the air when burned in landfills. They contain chemicals that leak into our soil and drinking water. The cell phones will be recycled and or disposed pf according to all EPA Guidelines with the support of the American Cellular Donation Organization.

Our Facility Offers Free Paper Shredding To Residents and Non-Residents. Excludes X-Rays, Pictures and Films.
Crushed Glass
Crushed Glass Is Available For Purchase At 2 Cents A Pound.
Compost/Mulch
Compost And Mulch Is Available For Purchase Bagged and Loose.

DON’T RECYCLE PROPERLY… LOSE YOUR BLUE

A SECOND BLACK BIN WILL REPLACE IT.

  • Overflow of black bin, littering, improper disposal of waste, and non-compliance of City Ordinance Section 90 – Solid Waste will automatically require delivery of a 2nd Black Bin to your residence.
  • A $12.50 for the additional Black Bin will be charged to your monthly utility bill.
